Carnarvon continues a range of carbon reduction activities to fulfil its commitment to becoming a carbon neutral company by 2050. Partnering with Carbon Neutral, Carnarvon initially purchased 6000 trees in 2019 and 2020 as part of the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor reforestation project. Starting in 2008, the corridor project has expanded to cover 18,000 hectares through the northern Wheatbelt and has been independently found to contribute significant biodiversity and regional economic impact value.

In 2021 Carnarvon purchased offsets for 49 tonnes of CO2-equivalent, investing in biodiverse reforestation offsets generated in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor. The trees planted as a result, are a tangible demonstration of our commitment to the environment, and our partnership with Carbon Neutral allows us to actively support vital regenerative work. In 2022 Carnarvon plans to continue its partnership with Carbon Neutral to offset its emissions.

As announced at our Annual General Conference last year, Carnarvon is proud to currently be operating as a carbon neutral company and have a continued focus on improving ESG outcomes in the future.
