Adrian Cook

Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director  

Adrian has more than 25 years experience in commercial and financial management, primarily in the petroleum industry. Immediately prior to joining Carnarvon, Adrian was the Managing Director of Buru Energy Limited, an ASX listed oil and gas exploration and production company with interests in the Canning Basin in Western Australia.

Adrian has also held senior executive positions within Clough Limited’s oil and gas construction business and was executive at ARC Energy Limited, an ASX-listed mid cap oil and gas exploration and production company.

Adrian joined Carnarvon on 2 November 2009 and was appointed to the Board on 1 July 2011.

Philip Huizenga

Chief Operating Officer  

Philip joined Carnarvon in early 2007 as Principal Petroleum Engineer but was promoted to Chief Operating Officer.  He has an extensive engineering background with nearly 20 years in the oil and gas industry encompassing many years of rig exposure on offshore and remote locations and several years reservoir engineering experience.

Philip has worked internationally in Asia and the Americas in a number of engineering and management roles, is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and sits on the Industry Advisory Council to the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Curtin University.

Alex Doering

Chief Financial Officer  

Alex is a finance executive responsible for the overall financial management of the Carnarvon business, with approximately 12 years of commercial and financial experience. Alex is a Chartered Accountant and an associate of the Governance Institute of Australia with experience in taxation, financial reporting, governance, raising capital and commercial transactions.

Alex jointly performs the Company Secretary role in which he manages Carnarvon’s corporate governance framework and regulatory compliance.

Gavan Sproule

General Counsel and Company Secretary  

Gavan is a senior in-house lawyer and joint Company Secretary with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, including project execution, operations, product offtake and marketing, intellectual property, deal delivery and corporate advisory.

He has two decades of legal experience, having previously worked in Australia and overseas for Shell, KUFPEC and Tap Oil Limited, as well as in private practice for Ashurst and Corrs Chambers Westgarth.

Gavan holds formal post-graduate qualifications from the Governance Institute of Australia in corporate governance and risk management, with broad risk and compliance experience in both a listed, and unlisted, environment.

Mark Robertson

Operations Manager  

Mark has more than 30 years oil and gas industry experience, with many years working internationally across Europe and Asia Pacific.

Previous roles as Country General Manager for Jadestone Energy Australia, Oil Assets Manager at Quadrant/Apache Energy and Senior General Manager of Operations for Maersk, working in various Senior project and operational positions throughout the world.

Mark has a substantial leadership and operational background in production, operations, marine, maintenance, subsea operations, drilling and projects within the Oil and Gas Industry. Has proven abilities to achieve the strategic business goals without compromising safety or integrity, and extensive experience in, Transitioning Assets and delivering to achieve growth, reduce costs and strengthen performance.

Adam Kong

New Energies Business Manager  

Adam is a reservoir engineer with more than 13 years of commercial and technical experience in oil and gas asset due diligence, valuation, and transactions. His role involves assessing and managing new strategic and growth opportunities and assist the CEO and board with setting strategic direction.

Before joining Carnarvon, Adam was Business Development Manager for Senex Energy where he led the sale of the Cooper Basin assets to Beach Energy and played an integral part in the development of the corporate strategy.

Graham Chapman

Business Process Manager 

Big data and efficient information technology is the future and Graham ensures these functions help the technical operations of our business.

Graham’s recent focus has been the complete upgrade of all of our IT systems to manage our rapidly growing geological database. He is constantly looking for ways in which computer systems and new technology can improve the way our people work and enhance the opportunities to discover more oil and gas.

Graham also provides HSE management including environmental submissions to the government when seeking approvals for drilling.

Roisin McGee

Geoscience Manager 

Roisin has a BSc in Geophysics from Leeds University, an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience from Imperial College London, and an MBA from the University of Western Australia. She has been in the oil and gas industry for 14 years and has experience in new ventures, exploration, and development. She is currently responsible for the Bedout JV exploration projects and the scoping and due diligence for new venture opportunities.

She has been at CVN for ten years. She has been an integral part of the team that upgraded the Bedout sub-basin from frontier to Australia’s most exciting new oil and gas province. She believes the Bedout sub-basin has exceptional potential beyond the Dorado and Pavo fields. Before her time at CVN, she was a development geophysicist for Statoil in Norway and a Geoscientist at Gaffney Cline and Associates in the UK.

Hilton Funk

Financial Controller 

Hilton has eight years’ experience as a Financial Accountant and in that time has used his knowledge to support a variety of small, medium to large businesses across Western Australia. Most recently, he worked the last 13 months as a Financial Controller for iron ore producer, GWR Group Limited.

In addition to his experience, Hilton is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant, and has completed a Bachelor of Business Management and a Master of Professional Accounting.

George Mills

Geoscientist  

George has a BSc (Hons) in Geology and Resource Economics from the University of Western Australia. He has been in the oil and gas industry since 2015 and has experience in new ventures, exploration, drilling and development. He is currently responsible for the technical analysis of the newly acquired datasets of the world-class Bedout Sub-basin and selecting future drill targets, as well as providing new venture due diligence.

He believes the Bedout Sub-basin is currently the most exciting basin in the Asia Pacific region with fantastic exploration upside.

Jackie Sutherland

Technical Assistant  

Jackie has been an integral part of the Carnarvon exploration team for the past 10 years, assisting the exploration team build its large technical database.

Jackie has a varied role here at CVN from hunting data down to submitting government documentation for all assets. One day is never the same for Jackie.

Laura Creighton

Administration Assistant  

Laura has been with Carnarvon seven years. She is the key front of house contact point for most people when they come calling – in person or via phone.

She assists with accounts payable, maintaining general office upkeep, and helping out colleagues with day-to-day tasks.
