The great news this month is that we secured our preferred rig for drilling the Pavo and Apus structures.

We successfully negotiated to deploy the Noble Tom Prosser rig, which is the same vessel that was used on the Dorado-2 and Dorado-3 appraisal wells.

Given our previous experience with the rig we know that it’s very efficient – the costs for those wells came in under budget – and of course delivered two very successful appraisal results.

Our search for drilling rigs doesn’t stop there though, as we continue to progress our Buffalo project, looking for another vessel to drill the Buffalo-10 well – with more news on that front to come in the next couple of months.

Also forming a core part of our current development strategy is working to secure important long lead items for drilling.

We are pleased to report that the highly experienced Petrofac team has integrated into working with our people in the Carnarvon office, drawing on their international reach to identify these so they’re ready for when we want to drill.

The Timor-Leste Government has also been very efficient in their approval of the long lead items which is appreciated by the Carnarvon team.

Sadly, Timor-Leste has put its capital city on a coronavirus lockdown for the first time amid fears it could be facing its first local outbreak and we wish them well in eradicating the virus quickly. Learn more
